On Tuesday, March 19, Father Edward Sanchez presented a very generous check of $4,907 to the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, representing funds collected during February’s “Have A Heart” fundraiser from parishioners of Immaculate Conception and St. Augustine of Hippo. The funds received will extend the Sisters' current budget for much needed geriatric therapies to alleviate pain, anxiety, and muscle stiffness associated with arthritis, neuropathy, Alzheimer’s, dementia, and Parkinson’s Disease.
The Sisters’ Leadership Team accepted the check, overwhelmed and humbled by the generosity of parishioners.
Father Sanchez presented the check in front of the statue of St. Joseph in the convent’s San Damiano Chapel. March 19 is the feast of St. Joseph, who holds a very special place in the hearts of the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi. Since the congregation’s founding, the Sisters have turned to St. Joseph in times of financial need, placing notes containing their prayers and needs at the foot of his statue.
Father Sanchez remarked, “We are so grateful for the generous hearts of our parishioners. On this feast of St. Joseph, our gratitude and prayers are with the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi!"
